Fans for Air to Water Heat Pump

Heat pumps are in great demand in the field of heating systems. With power from 3kW to 30 kW, they are a suitable solution for detached-family houses and shared housing. Because of low acquisition costs, simple installation and small dimensions make them a very interesting heating alternative not only for new buildings but also suitable for modernizing heating in existing buildings. The fan in the heat pump unit plays an important role in the efficiency and economic operation.

Air-to-water heat pumps extract heat from the surrounding air and transfer it to the heating system, which then heats living spaces and sanitary water. The fan ensures adequate airflow through the evaporator. An energy-saving, quiet fan with adjustable speed and long service life is very important for a heat pump.

Axial or Radial Fan?

There are two types of air-to-water heat pumps for indoor and outdoor installation. Both types of heat pumps have different requirements for fans. With indoor installation, outside air is drawn in through one pipe and then expelled through another pipe. Because this design is very suitable for higher-pressure loads, radial fans are ideal for indoor installation heat pumps. They are very compact and usable for indoor limited space. The radial fans are also suitable for systems that combine a heat pump and a residential ventilation unit. In outdoor installations, the evaporator is a separate unit that is connected by pipes to the indoor unit. They don’t have any limitations in space. The quiet axial fan is mainly used in the outdoor installation heat pump.

Thanks to the wide product portfolio of our suppliers, we at JNOD have received the best solution for the motor and fan in the heat pump unit. For example, we use an axial fan in JNOD R290 Top-blow and Side-blow Heating Cooling & DHW heat pump with particularly efficient and powerful. Our fans are aerodynamically optimized in terms of energy performance and low noise.
